An immersive exhibition and installation, Nomads of Persia sets the tenor for the NYC “voyage”. The installation inhabits a Tribeca building space at Salomon Arts Creative Studio.
Work on print + canvas sets the scene weaving textile production into a new performative whole – draped within immersive sound + video integrations and coupled with a generative AI experiment. It engages with the endangered heritage of Persian tribal cultures disrupting established narratives from a position of exile. In combination with the nomadic heritage of the artist’s fatherland, FFF presents Nomads of Persia in multi-format form through textile, print, paint, video, sound and AI-powered digital material.

Working with found/archival material through the process of “paintover” has been a hallmark of the artist’s work. Showing as a 3-day pop-up exhibition in the Furman Gallery of the Lincoln Center, Camilla FarmanFarmaian’s Saint Tropez based juncture Gallery presents fresh units of these “paintovers” related to his new Nomads of Persia collection. A series of talks on related themes (eg. nomadic displacement; Spiritual Romanticism) will run parallel to the exhibition.

Expansive lyricism strums the tune to Farmanfarmaian’s creative output. Music to contemporary art and back again, FFF comes full circle in the City. Playing their US + NYC debut, FarmanFarmaian presents FORRM’s new album GALACTICA.
Firouz FarmanFarmaian’s music production has been constant since founding Paris based independent rock outfit PLAYGROUND c. ‘03; the release of two consecutive PLAYGROUND albums followed, including an unreleased lost album, number of EPs, remixes and singles. The band’s second and official last album PLAYGROUND NIGHTOLOGY went gold in France in 2010.

Firouz FarmanFarmaian takes over The Museum of Arts and Design’s auditorium evening of Dec 12 ’24; in a breakthrough multidisciplinary live artwork, the audience will be immersed in a performative experience, with FFF’s experimental rock ensemble FORRM engaging in creative visual dialogue with a neural network framework, powered by NY based digital art studio Interactive Items.
Braving the boundaries of generative art in a cross-format approach, FarmanFarmaian partners with Interactive Items to develop a first-time complex, high-tech process.
Raw footage from his upcoming arthouse docu-film PATH (We R the Nomads Agency ‘25) will be set into sequences triggering the AI into “controlled hallucinations”, thanks to prompts and multiple sensors embedded in a ball of clay handled by the artist. These sequences will in turn be triggered by sound on performance night, projected and recorded live on the MAD’s auditorium screen.
PATH (Into the Vortex) will additionally be presented onscreen as a generative art audiovisual object at Salomon Arts Gallery Tribeca, parallel to FFF’s Nomads of Persia exhibition (Dec 14). Content from the experience will be woven into the feature-length version of FarmanFarmaian’s upcoming film PATH.
